Gingivitis or Bleeding Gums , Gingival Bleeding

Bleeding gums is a very wide topic but I will try to simplify it in this post to be easy to under stand .

Bleeding gums can be extremely discomforting physically and mentally. It is a big problem for some.You can not imagine the spontaneous gum bleeding, and how it is discomforting  .
It is  important that a person understands the gums that bleed to stop gum bleeding.

Bleeding gums can be a sign that you are at risk for, or already have, gum disease. However, persistent gum bleeding may be due to serious medical conditions such as leukemia and bleeding and platelet disorders.


Persistent bad breath ,and gums that bleed easily when brushing or flossing may be signs for gum disease.




Signs of bleeding gums
  • Red inflamed gums or Sore gums .
  • Swollen, smooth, and shiny gums  .
  • Gums that bleed during and after brushing teeth.

Complications ,and Dangers of bleeding gums:
Affecting the mouth 
  • Formation of deep pockets between the teeth and gum.
  • Receding gums.
  • Loose, or shifting teeth.
Affecting all the body 
Their is a big number of bacteria are formed in the mouth accompany the gingivitis . It is  Harmful Bacteria , that can gain access to your bloodstream and potentially cause a whole host of health problems. Some of the dangers that can eventually take place are: 
  • Digestive system disorders
  • Respiratory problems
  • Higher risk for heart attack or stroke

Causes:
Common Causes:
Mainly due to inadequate plaque removal from the teeth at the gum line.
If plaque is not removed through regular brushing and dental appointments, it will harden into what is known as tartar. Ultimately, this will lead to increased bleeding and a more advanced form of gum and jawbone disease known as periodontitis .

Other causes of bleeding gums include
  • Brushing too hard.
  • Improper flossing .
  • Any bleeding disorder.
  • Ill-fitting dentures.
  • Infection, which can be either tooth- or gum-related.
  • diabetes mellitus.
  • Leukemia.
  • Scurvy.vitamin C deficiency.
  • Vitamin K deficiency.
  • Use of blood thinners.
Treatment :
  1. The most important point of treatment is the proper cleaning of the teeth and mouth .Dentist should be visited once every three months for plaque removal. Short-bristle toothbrush is recommended for brushing your teeth. Hard-bristled toothbrushes may be softened by leaving under hot running water (very hot) before brushing every time, followed by gentle brushing.
  2. Floss thoroughly, each evening before brushing, or more frequently as needed.
  3. Rinse with a mouthwash twice daily (morning and evening)
  4. A balanced healthy diet should be taken.Drink plenty of water,and be cautious about extremely hot or cold foods and beverages
  5. Control gum bleeding by applying pressure directly on the gums with a gauze pad soaked in ice water.
  6. Avoid the use of tobacco, which aggravates bleeding gums.
  7. If you have been diagnosed with a vitamin deficiency, take recommended vitamin supplements.
  8. Avoid aspirin unless your health care provider has recommended that you take it.
  9. If side effects of medication are irritating, ask your doctor to recommend another medication. Never change your medication without consulting your doctor.
  10. Use an oral irrigation device on the low setting to massage the gums.
  11. See your dentist if your dentures do not fit correctly or if they are causing sore spots in your gums.
  12. The last important point   Relax

Considerations:

It is important to follow the instructions from your dentist in order to maintain healthy gums. Improper brushing and flossing technique may actually irritate or traumatize the gum tissue.

Gingivitis is one of the most common forms of gum (periodontal) disease. Gingivitis affects the tissues that surround and support your teeth. The bacteria which causes gingivitis, can turn into tartar buildup, irritate your gums and lead to bleeding.
